Specialized in optical remote sensingof aquatic environments, from lakes to oceans
ARCTUS is a private R&D company providing research, development and applications in remote sensing, Earth Observation (EO) and Geographical Information System (GIS) technologies for governmental agencies, scientific communities and the general public. Our company is specialized optical remote sensing of aquatic environments, from lakes to oceans.
An Unique Tool
For more than a century, anthropic activities have been putting an everly increasing pressure on natural ecosystems. During the last decades, EO technologies have been revealed as a unique tool to detect changes in remote and often inaccessible regions. Remote sensing provides quasi-continuous georeferenced images of the Earth’s surface that can be used to monitor environmental changes, helping acquire a better understand of the relationships between the natural ecosystems, global changes and human activities.
Our expertise
R&D AND DEMONSTRATION
Ideation, creation and technological demonstration by highly qualified scientific personnel in oceanography, geography, geomatics and remote sensing. The ARCTUS team uses up-to-date scientific research to develop state-of-the-art products and services.
Scientific analysis and development of algorithms for improved, automated processing of satellite data and its application to the monitoring of aquatic environments.
ENVIRONNEMENT MONITORING
Monitoring of environmental parameters (turbidity, chlorophyll-a, ship, sea ice, coastal ecosystems, bathymetry) for mapping and detecting changes in aquatic ecosystems and coastal habitats. Some EO products can be generated in near-real time.
QUALITY CONTROL AND VALIDATION
Assessment and validation of the quality and accuracy of operational satellite products (e.g. radiometry) and high-value-added derived products (e.g. bathymetry).
CONSULTING
Writing technical reports and scientific publications to support decision-making using Earth observation technologies for monitoring coastal environments.
SCIENTIFICPUBLICATIONS
Access several publications from our scientists and stay connected to the world of science.
