Rivers bring nutrients, suspended sediments and dissolved organic material to the coastal ocean that are essential to maintain the integrity of estuarine coastal ecosystems. The new generation OCR satellites provide medium to high resolution images which may be transformed into maps of the indicator of interest, such as total suspended sediment concentration or water transparency.
